Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

This policy applies to the TauState iOS application and the website taustate.app. The party responsible under the GDPR is named in the Imprint (German).

2. Data the app collects

None that leaves your device. TauState works fully offline and makes no network requests. The app does not gather identifiers, contacts, location, usage analytics, or any other personal information.

3. Data stored locally on your device

To make the app useful, some information is saved locally on your device only:

• Your progress — experience points, level, rank, streaks, achievements and game history.
• Your settings — chosen theme, sound and haptics preferences, and training configurations you create.
• An optional display name you may enter for your profile.

This data never leaves your device and is never sent to us or to any third party. Deleting the app removes it. You can also export your own history as a CSV or JSON file at any time, directly from the app — that file is created on your device and shared only where you choose to send it.

4. Microphone and speech recognition

TauState offers an optional voice input mode so you can speak your answers. When you enable it:

• Speech recognition runs on-device only. Audio is processed locally and is never uploaded to any server.
• No recordings are stored. Audio is used in the moment to recognise the number you said, then discarded.
• The microphone is only active while voice mode is in use. iOS asks for your permission first, and you can revoke it any time in Settings.

5. No tracking or advertising

TauState contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics frameworks, and no third-party tracking of any kind. We do not build profiles and we do not use cookies in the app.

6. TestFlight (beta distribution)

While TauState is distributed through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may collect certain information — such as crash logs, basic device data, and usage statistics — to operate the beta program. That collection is governed by Apple, not by us. See Apple's Privacy Policy and the terms shown in the TestFlight app.

7. Website hosting (Cloudflare)

The taustate.app website is a static informational site. It is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, and delivered through Cloudflare's global network. When you access the site, Cloudflare processes technically necessary connection data — in particular your IP address, the time of access, the requested resource, the amount of data transferred, and browser and operating-system information — in order to deliver the site and protect the infrastructure against attacks.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the website securely and reliably (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). A data processing agreement is in place with Cloudflare, and Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We do not analyse these logs ourselves and do not combine them with any other data.

8. Local storage in your browser

The website uses no cookies and no tracking technologies. The only things stored are your language choice and your selected colour theme, kept in your browser's localStorage so they persist between visits. This storage is technically necessary for the service you request and does not require consent; it cannot be used to recognise you across other websites. You can remove the entry at any time via your browser settings.

9. Children

Because TauState collects no personal data, it is safe for users of all ages. No information about children — or anyone else — is gathered.

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). Since we store no personal data about you on our side, there is generally nothing for us to retrieve or delete — the app's data lives only on your device and is fully under your control.

11. Changes to this policy

If the app's or the website's functionality changes in a way that affects privacy, this policy will be updated and the date above revised.
